The most visible of all our collections, our living collections include thousands of plants—from a mighty oak tree to a tiny endangered orchid.  They’re the plants you see when strolling through the Japanese Garden, and those you don’t see being kept in our greenhouses.

Each plant is carefully catalogued in the Garden’s living collections management system, a massive database that helps our horticulturists and researchers track these specimens.
