More than five miles of bookshelves hold the Peter H. Raven Library’s general collection. It includes more than 200,000 volumes of books and journals stored on row after row of compact shelves. More than 1,000 new books and issues from over 800 journal titles are added each year. The main emphasis of the collection is on plant taxonomic literature, current and retrospective, collected in all languages. In addition to the general collection, the Library has more than 6,500 rare books.
