As temperatures cool, water lily season is coming to a close. Take the time to catch a glimpse of them and everything else that is blooming in the Garden this weekend.

TONIGHT is the final Fall Flower Hours and the last week to see the Garden’s water lilies for the season!

Happy National Pawpaw Day!

Hispanic Heritage month starts tomorrow and we’re kicking it off by celebrating Victoria amazonica water lilies. These large lilies are native to shallow waters in the Amazon region of South America, where they historically had many practical uses as food and medicine. Called “maíz de agua” or “corn of the water,” its large, starchy seeds were used as flour to make bread and cakes. Its sap was used to dye hair or give it a shine and to cure venomous snake bites.
